Agent FAQs

How Do I Get Involved in a Committee?

Committee sign-up is in September/October each year.  We send descriptions of each committee to the members with the volunteer form and the incoming President and President-Elect appoints the committee members.  The Board approves the committee appointments in October or November.

What’s in it for Me to Volunteer for the Board of Directors or Committee?

Service on a committee and/or the Board allows members to have direct input in the direction of the Association and MLS.  Ideas are either formulated by the committees and presented to the Board for approval or tasks are given to the committees by the Board to accomplish.  By being involved, members have a better understanding of any changes made.  It also allows more opportunities to network with other members.

Why Should I Invest in a REALTOR Designation Course?

NAR has been tracking data since 2013 on its designation program. Most members realize a 65% increase in their annual income with their first designation. That is money extremely well invested.

Real estate designations and certifications through NAR are specialized credentials for REALTORS®. Both designations and certifications are forms of real estate agent education that require real estate professionals to be active members of NAR. The difference between the two is that a designation requires annual dues, but a certification only requires an application fee without annual dues.

Does MAAR and AREC share information? What is the difference between the two organizations?

MAAR and AREC are separate organizations and do not have systems that communicate. If you an agent decides to move companies or become inactive you must contact both AREC and MAAR.
